Marisoli

Drinking water from sunlight & sea.

A passive solar panel that turns ocean water into clean drinking water. No electricity. No filters. No chemicals. No moving parts. Just the sun doing what it's done for 4 billion years.

The science

How Marisoli works

Marisoli mimics the Earth's water cycle inside a compact panel. The sun heats seawater, pure vapor rises, salt stays behind, and clean water is collected. Our multi-stage design recycles the sun's energy up to 10 times — producing 5x more water than any simple solar still.

1
Sunlight heats the absorber
A dark surface captures solar energy and transfers heat to a thin layer of seawater, causing it to evaporate. The salt cannot evaporate — it stays behind.
2
Heat gets recycled through 10 stages
When vapor condenses, it releases heat. That heat passes to the next layer and evaporates more water. This repeats through 10 stages — the same sunlight works 10 times.
3
Salt is naturally flushed away
Concentrated brine is denser than seawater. Gravity pulls it down and away from the evaporator, drawing fresh seawater in. The panel cleans itself — no clogging, no maintenance.
4
Pure water collects, ready to drink
Condensed freshwater drips into a collection channel and passes through a natural limestone filter that adds minerals for taste. The output meets WHO drinking water standards.

The lineup

Three products, one mission

From emergency survival to daily household water to community-scale supply — Marisoli scales with the same core technology.

🎒
Emergency
Folds flat. Under a pound. Unfold on seawater and drinking water appears. For life rafts, disaster kits, and backpacks.
3–6 L/day · Under $25
🏠
Home
A rooftop panel that provides a family's daily drinking water. Snap-fit assembly, no tools. Replace the wick once a year.
15–25 L/day · $80–150
🏘️
Community
Connect panels together with quick-fit manifolds. Gravity-fed distribution. One trained local operator maintains it all.
Up to 2,500 L/day

The mission

Why Marisoli exists

2.2 billion people lack reliable clean water. 40% of humanity lives near a coast with an ocean full of water they can't drink. Current desalination demands electricity, expensive membranes, and trained engineers.

Marisoli needs none of that.

No grid required

Runs entirely on sunlight. No solar panels, no batteries, no generators. Works anywhere the sun shines on saltwater.

No expertise needed

Snap-fit assembly. Removable wick inserts. A child can set it up. A grandmother can maintain it. Instructions in icons, not text.

Built from commodity materials

Glass, aluminum, plastic, cotton. Every component can be substituted with locally available materials. The design is intentionally material-agnostic.

Proven science

Based on multi-stage solar distillation research published by MIT and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Independently validated physics. Patent pending.
